SCHOOL OF THE BIBLE l Q&A l "tell you what you want to hear" l Utah VidDevo l VidDevoChurch

Question Of The Day

Q. With the growing number of "believers" gravitating away from true and traditional doctrine to churches that tell them "what they want to hear" do you believe that this is adding to the total number of the church or taking away from it?

A. It's important to remember that the Church consists of born again believers throughout the Church Age, whether living or dead. Among the living, some regularly attend a church service and some don't, or can't. But all believe in their heart that Jesus died for their sins and rose again, and all have asked Him to save them from their sins. Born again believers cannot fall away from the Church (John 10:27-30, Ephesians 1:13-14, etc.).

Many of the people who are being drawn from traditional doctrine into "tell you what you want to hear" churches are not born again. They can neither add to nor subtract from the true Church's number (John 3:3).

Those who are drawn to these churches and are born again are like sheep who have wandered away. The Lord, being our shepherd, will track them down and bring them back, because it's the Father's will that He should lose none of us (John 6:39).

Therefore, the only time changes in the total number of the Church happen is when new people become born again.

"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:38-39).

ASK A BIBLE TEACHER: "What state is he in now"

Question Of The Day

Q. The Bible tells us that Jesus appeared to many people after his resurrection. Thomas touched his body and Jesus ate fish with his followers. Obviously, it was a physical body. In what state did the Lord Jesus ascend to Heaven to be seated at the right hand of God the Father, physical or spiritual, and in what state is he in now as far as his body is concerned?

A. Acts 1:9 says Jesus was taken up (into the sky) before the disciples' very eyes. Since our eyes can't see spiritual beings and since Jesus was in physical form just before He ascended it's logical to assume He was taken up in physical form.

Years later when the Lord Jesus visited John on the Isle of Patmos he looked "like a son of man", meaning He was in human form (Rev. 1:12-13).

And when John was taken to the Throne of God, he saw a Lamb as it had been slain (Rev. 5:5-6). One of the elders identified Him as Jesus. Although John's description is symbolic, many scholars believe John saw Jesus in physical form still bearing the scars of His crucifixion standing at the throne of God. They believe that's the way He looks today.

When Jesus came to Earth, He put aside His godly powers and limited Himself to the abilities of a man. He accomplished His miracles through the power of the Holy Spirit. When He returned to heaven He remained in the form of a man but took up his godly powers again. He is truly all God and all man.

"The Son is is the radiance of God's Glory and the exact representation of His being, sustaining all things by His powerful word. After He had by himself provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of majesty in Heaven" (Hebrews 1:3).
